Real Racing 3 is the best sim racer to ever hit mobile. But are its freemium hooks a minor inconvenience, or a deal-breaker?
Real Racing 3 by Firemonkeys and EA is one of the best racing games out there for iOS. The fact it comes as a free download with in-app purchases frustrates some - myself included - but it has at least opened up the opportunity to play to many, many more.
RR3 is a interesting racing game to say the least. On one hand, it is one of the most gorgeous games on the iPhone that EA has ever released, but on the other hand, the game was rigged with microtransactions and at times, infuriating controls, and before 2023, EA was being EA.
Real Racing 3 has real cars, real tracks, realistic graphics but arcade style driving : ( I know, I know. RR3 is a mobile game and it will always have its limitations compared to proper simulators on consoles but my problem with RR3 is that it isn't even as realistic as a mobile racing game with all its limitations could possibly be !
Real Racing 3 has comfortable controls, upgradeable cars, and real-life licensed tracks. So, without a doubt, we have to say that the buzz around it is rightfully placed. It is one of the best racing games on mobile. The selling points . One of the best things about Real Racing 3 in our opinion is how much replayability it has.
Freemium issues aside Real Racing 3 is still definitely worth playing, if for nothing else than the stunning visuals and great handling that makes it a triple-A mobile game.
